What is Eventing?
Eventing could be termed an “equestrian triathlon.” It involves working with a horse both on the flat and over fences. The three phases are: dressage, endurance (or cross-country), and show jumping. Over the centuries it has developed from the test of the ideal military charger. Eventing has now evolved into an exciting sport attracting interest from all levels of sports enthusiasts, from weekend hobby riders to professional international stars.

What is Pony Club?
Pony Club is the largest equestrian educational organization in the world. This is where it all begins! The cornerstones of our foundation are education, safety, sportsmanship, stewardship and FUN. Members learn riding and the care of horses through mounted sports. The skills, habits and values instilled through horsemanship will apply to every part of a member’s life.

About Shepherd Ranch
Our 40-acre Cross-Country course was originally built and designed by Bill Burton. James Atkinson designed the course for many years, and we welcomed Bert Wood as our designer and builder in 2019. In June 2020, the torch was passed to Adri Doyal and she has been building and designing our course ever since.
